Today I'd like to ask you a question. Who are you? Why did you come here? I have to confess that I've tried several times to make a leading survey tool work (okay, it's survey monkey--but it's probably not their fault).
So let's do this. Please leave a comment. Let me know who you are--writer, reader, interested bystander, family member, etc.--and why you read Random Jottings--like my posts, want to learn more about the writing life, referred by a friend, got here by mistake, etc.
Thanks for your participation.

Fun! And you did it correctly - I could check multiple boxes! :-)
(The survey was a lot easier for me to complete than the word verification! LOL)
Linda actually got into this when I was working, trying to make the survey behave.
Sorry, folks. It's back to old-fashioned comments now.
Hi, Richard. I'm a writer and reader, and like your take on life. Help's put this writing life in perspective.
I found you on Twitter, then followed your blog. It's actually kind of hard to leave a comment -- took 3 clicks. And the word you type in to prove you're not a robot is almost indecipherable. Currently I'm on my fifth try. I'm here because I want to learn more about writing. Thanks!
Mark, thanks for your comment. I should mention that you've chosen "the road less traveled," and gone for self-publication. I've had you and Jim Bell as guests, and we need to get you back for more info on that.
Susan, I'm glad you're here. Sorry it's been tough to comment. Actually, this whole post has been difficult for me--couldn't make "survey monkey" work, had a hard time getting the comments tab going. I agree--Captcha is a pain in the neck, but the alternative is sp#m that starts almost the moment I remove that gateway. And I'm not a fan of "moderating" every comment. Ideas, anyone?
I'm a writer and I found your blog through another writer, I think. I really can't remember because I've been hanging out here for a while. Anyhow, I keep coming back because of your relaxed style of writing and you share good stuff. Also, you were very encouraging when I started my blog. Thank you.
Thanks, Kim. I think that's one thing that marks the authors of Christian fiction--we try to help each other. Appreciate your comment, and glad you've kept coming back.
I'm a fan of your books and you share your name with my late father, which definitely grabbed my attention. Your blog engages people and encourages participation. You respond to as many comments as possible, which I find rare in the blogging world.
Thank you for your blog, your books and reminding me of my father whenever I visit.
Karen, I appreciate your comment. I don't have the thousands of readers other writers' blogs do, but I appreciate every one of you all. And I'll always respond as time and my schedule permit. Thanks for being here.
